A FAMILY-OWNED

BUSINESS

Our Story

AN ADVENTURE SINCE 1957

Jean-Jacques Cossette founded Forex with his brothers 65 years ago. Capitalizing on each family member’s strengths, the Cossette family succeeded in forging a lasting business partnership. Over the decades, they built, acquired, and operated over fifteen OSB sawmills and factories across Quebec. In the 1970s, Forex became one of the first occupants of the Val d´Or industrial park and played an instrumental role in developing it with several major plants.

Our Growth

A BOLD AND PASSIONATE FAMILY

From its first mill until the company was sold in 1999 to a major player in the industry, Forex has made its mark on the forestry industry by becoming the largest producer of oriented strand board (OSB) panels in Canada, among the company’s many other accomplishments.

Passionate entrepreneurs with a strong growth mindset, the Cossette family decided to acquire new factories in the Upper-Laurentians between 2008 and 2011, as well as in the Abitibi region in 2015.

Today, Forex remains an innovative and successful company while being deeply committed to sustainable practices that respect raw materials and the environment.
